The Pomeranian is a dog breed in the spitz family, named for the region of Poland Pomerania and classed as a “toy” breed because of their small size. They are the smallest member of the Spitz group of breeds. The breed became popular in late 1800’s after Queen Victoria, who saw them on a visit to Florence, estabished a breeding kennel in the United Kingdom.
