How does the Aboistop Anti-Barking Collar work? :

Each time your dog barks, the electronic bark-sensing unit on your Abooistop, releases a brisk spray in front of the dog"s snout. Your dog hears it, sees it and smells it.

At the first spray your dog"s natural curiosity will be to seek the origin of the new odour. The dog will quickly learn that when he or she barks, Aboistop Sprays. This discourages your dog from barking. Aboistop is a distraction to your dog"s senses. Should you want to reverse the effects of Aboistop, just stop using the device.

According to the manufacturer their research shows that Aboistop Anti-Barking collar will eliminate nuisance-barking by up to 88%. As with all anti-bark products, they do not deal with the underlying causes of the dog"s barking. This should be dealt with at the same time as using this product. If within a two week period you have not noticed a significant reduction in the overall amount of barking, especially at night, then you have a more serious barking problem than just simple unnecessary nuisance and you will need to seek immediate help from a dog behaviourist.

Using your Aboistop Anti-barking Collar

Your dog must associate barking with the release of spray from your Aboistop. Therefore when you dog is wearing the Aboistop, it must be in working order with the tank full.

It may take a few days for your dog to quieten down. During the first few days of usng the Aboistop your dog may completely empty the device with his barking. It is important to never let the device run out whilst it is on your dog, otherwise your dog may learn that he can empty the devce by barking!. We strongley advise you to keep an eye on your dog during the few few days of using your Aboistop, so that you can refill the Aboistop reservoir as soon as necessary - perhaps start with the device at a weekend for example. It is also a good idea to have a spare refill canister for when the one in the kit runs out (see "Related Items" below).

Be present when you initailly use the Aboistop Anti-Spray Collar. When your dog barks, the spray is triggered and stops the barking through surpise effect. As soon as your dog has calmed down, praise and start to play with him. This way, your dog will understand that there are other ways to work off tension, and wearing the Aboistop is not unpleasant.
