The Vari Kennel Traditional Pet carriers have been standard issue across the world for many years. Accepted by more airlines than any other carrier, they are IATA airline approved pet shipping crate recommended for use on outbound flights from the UK. The Vari-Kennel pet carrier combines value with preferred features, such as heavy duty coloured plastic shells, chromed wire doors and vents and plastic easy lock nuts . Meets airline requirements. These containers are designed using the most recently published IATA (International Air Transport Association) Live Animal Regulations for container requirements (www.iata.org ).

Summary of IATA REGULATIONS (OCTOBER 2003)	VARI-KENNEL CONTAINER FEATURES
Connecting hardware for two part containers must be present and properly installed. (Material is not specified)	the Vari-Kennel Ultra ABS twist locks are provided for a secure assembly
Food and Water Container must be affixed for easy access from outside the container.	All Vari-Kennels include food and water containers that are affixed to the gate for easy access from outside.
“This Way Up” and “Live Animal” Stickers are mandatory on all shipping Vari-Kennel Ultras	Stickers are provided with all containers.
Exterior Spacer / Handle Bars provided along the middle of both long sides of the container.	Spacer Bars of a minimum of 2.5 cm (1 inch) are provided on three sides of all containers
Floor and Roof must be solid and leak-proof.	Solid floor and roof is featured on all containers
Door must form one whole end of container and be constructed of welded or cast metal of sufficient gauge or thickness to preclude the animal from bending or distorting the door. Large doors will require additional hinges and two or three secure means of fastening to be fully secure.	Full size entry gates of welded steel wire are provided on one end of all containers and have wire grid openings no larger than 2.5 cm (1 inch) to prevent gnawing by or protrusion of animal. Gates have at least four points of engagement for security. Larger gates have six points of engagement for additional security.
Door Hinges and Locking Pins must extend beyond the horizontal extrusions above and below the door opening by at least 1.6 cm (5/8 in) where the pins are fitted.	Gate hinges and locking pins on all containers have 1.6 cm (5/8 in) or greater engagement at the connecting points to the frame.
Ventilation provided by an open end of the container (the door) and openings of a minimum of 2.5 cm (1 inch) over the upper 2/3rds of the opposite end and the remaining two sides. Total ventilation must be at least 16% of the total surface of the four sides. All openings must be nose and paw-proof, so animals can not gnaw or scratch.	Ventilation is provided at the open end (gate) and the upper 2/3rds of three sides of all containers. The ventilation is either molded openings, not exceeding 2.5 cm (1 inch) in width, or metal wire grids, not exceeding 2.5 m (1 in) in opening dimension. Both ventilation styles meet the requirement for 16% of total surface area of four sides to be open with the opening dimensions 2.5 cm (1 in) or less to be nose and paw-proof.
